How To: Use Turmeric As An Anti Inflammatory

This blog is supposed to help people in ways that I know how. Since I have Discoid Lupus (skin Lupus) I am always looking for ways to keep my immune system up and recently I unfortunately have had a lupus flare up from a few days in the sun (I know, tisk tisk) resulting in a rash on pretty much my entire body... I've been discovering and experimenting with homeopathic remedies for rashes. The hundred plus degree heat in Arizona doesn't help, so I've been learning to rest inside and relax. I've been drinking Turmeric tea a few times daily, as it's said that it is as powerfully anti inflammatory as NSAIDs. I'm also on steroids by my rheumatologists so please use my advice along with your doctor! I also got the Daily Turmeric Nutrient Booster Powder by Mega Food and have been taking it orally and also using the powder to create a lotion mixed with aloe vera gel. I leave it on for an hour or so then rinse it off in the shower...this does make you yellow and smell like curry! But the aloe lessens the itch and the turmeric soothes the redness. I will post photos and more helpful tips with living with lupus soon! Click here to read an interesting article on turmeric's healing properties.
